2.1 YOU MUST ALWAYS HAVE A SECRET PLAN

For this image, I was inspired by the message that is projected onto the backdrop: YOU MUST ALWAYS HAVE A SECRET PLAN. I found it on an electrical (?) box in Finland and thought it brilliant. Anyway, what I wanted to create was the feeling of isolation that comes with having a secret plan. This isolation, however, is not the lonely sort for one can have a secret plan while being around others. Still, I wanted only one figure that could be read as an actor while everything else in the scene is read as set. The glossy pieces are not only to reflect and refract the light, they are also there to literally show the inner reflection one must have while creating this secret plan.

i love your choice of colors for the light sources. They give the objects and overall space a really relaxing and calm feeling. I like it!

Dawn,

It's so exciting to see the gorgeous light that you created. I usually promote minimalism so that students get control of the situation. Your rendering makes a great case for complexity. The extra layer of the projection really creates a great air of mystery. I am also intrigued by the fact that one of the clear rods is not in a regular rhythm with the rest. You are correct that making the one stick red makes it the major actor. I am really impressed at the atmospheric glow that you created behind and between the white planes. This is a very intriguing image, a super start.

Think about how you might use the glow of the colored lights in designing your own lighting fixture. Currently the new marvel is LED lights as they consume little energy and last a long time. They come in different colors, for example, see Color Kinetics
